Caroline is a partner in the commercial insurance team and Executive Partner for Birmingham, specialising in complex and sensitive cases involving reputational risk with a particular focus on the automotive sector. Her experience ranges from product liability, fires, floods, construction, inquests, HSE prosecutions, complex public liability claims and claims arising out of professional negligence. She leads a team who are frequently praised for their dedication, customer focus and pragmatic approach.
The Legal 500 reported that Caroline Coates is “very thorough” and a ‘very impressive negotiator’ and names her as a Leading Individual. It goes on to say that she is one of the leaders of the practice at DWF, “where occupational health cases and product liability are among its core strengths.”
In March 2014, Caroline was awarded Birmingham Law Society Partner of the Year.
Caroline is head of the automotive sector drawing together expertise within DWF nationally to focus on this exciting and demanding sector. She regularly contributes to trade and national media, for example on current topics such as the discussion on the impact of the “driverless car”. Caroline provides training internally, externally for clients and within industry events.
